Before you fly home
Every plan includes a check before departure, and it is the appointment most worth protecting. It is the last point at which a high bite, a rough margin or a sore spot can be dealt with in ten minutes rather than becoming a reason to fly back. Book the departure flight to leave room for it.
You should leave with paperwork, not just teeth. That means the treatment record, the materials and implant systems actually used, the guarantee terms in writing, aftercare instructions you can follow, and a named contact for both DentistGuideTurkey and the treating clinic. If any of those are missing on the last day, ask on the last day.
The first two weeks at home
What matters here depends on what was done. Surgical cases need the swelling and the healing watched; crown and veneer cases need the bite watched, because a contact that felt fine on the chair can announce itself once you are back to normal food. Neither needs a dentist in the room, but both need someone to tell if something changes.
Tell us early rather than politely late. A bite adjustment reported in week one is a small thing; the same problem reported in month three has usually caused a second problem by then.
Who is answerable for what
This is the part that is genuinely different from treatment at home, and it is why it is written down here rather than implied.
Which organisation does what
Three different things are often sold as one product in dental tourism, and when something goes wrong it matters which of them you were actually buying. This is how it is split here.
| Part of the trip | Who is responsible |
|---|---|
| Your enquiry, treatment coordination, translation and follow-up | DentistGuideTurkey |
| Clinical assessment, the treatment itself and the clinical records | The DentistGuideTurkey Partner Clinic, Antalya |
| The written quotation and the guarantee terms on the work | Issued by the treating clinic, sent to you before you commit |
| Hotel and airport transfers, where you take them | The travel supplier named in your booking, not the clinic |
| Remedial work if something needs correcting | The treating clinic, under the guarantee terms you were given in writing |
If any of these are unclear when you receive your plan, ask before you pay a deposit. A plan that cannot say plainly who is treating you is not a plan you should be acting on.
Treatment in Antalya is arranged through an approved partner clinic. The treating clinic and the responsible dentist are confirmed to you in writing before you commit.
Working with a dentist at home
Register with, or stay registered with, a dentist where you live. Not as a fallback, as part of the plan. They handle anything urgent, they see the work at intervals, and they can tell you when something has changed. What they need from you is the paperwork: the systems and materials used are on it precisely so that a dentist who was not in the room can work with what is in your mouth.
If they are critical of treatment abroad, that is worth listening to rather than dismissing. It is also worth separating a clinical observation from a general view. Ask what specifically they are seeing.
If something needs correcting
Contact us and the treating clinic together rather than choosing between them. What happens next is set by the guarantee terms you were issued before treatment, which is exactly why those terms should have been read before you committed. They set out what is covered, for how long, and who bears the cost of a return trip if one is needed.
If you are unhappy with how a complaint is handled, our complaints procedure sets out the route, including where to take it if we have not resolved it.
The clinical aftercare guides
The instructions for each treatment (what to eat, what to avoid, how long the healing takes and what is normal) sit on the treatment aftercare guides rather than being repeated here.
Frequently asked questions
Who do I contact if something feels wrong at home?
Us first, and we bring the treating clinic in. Contact details for both go on your discharge paperwork before you fly.
Who pays if something needs correcting?
It depends on the guarantee terms you were issued in writing before treatment. Read them before you commit rather than after. That is the moment you can still ask for them to be changed.
Can my own dentist at home handle it?
For an emergency, usually yes, and they should. For anything definitive, they need to know what was used, which is why the materials and implant systems are listed on your paperwork.
Is a follow-up appointment included before I fly?
A check before departure is part of the plan for every case. Do not skip it to make an earlier flight — it is the last easy opportunity to fix something small.
