How dental content is medically reviewed

Last updated: 12 August 2026

"Medically reviewed" is a badge that gets used loosely across health publishing. This page sets out what it means here, including the parts it does not cover.

What review covers

Clinical content on this site is checked by the DentistGuideTurkey clinical team before publication. Review is aimed at four questions:

Where a page makes a claim about suitability, the review asks whether that claim holds for the general case and whether the page says clearly enough that individual assessment overrides it.

What review does not cover

This is the part usually left out, so we will be explicit. Review of a web page is not a clinical assessment of you. It cannot be, because nobody has looked in your mouth.

Why we credit a team rather than a named dentist

Attributing a page to "Dr [Name], DDS" is a trust signal that is easy to print and hard to verify, and it is routinely misused in this sector. We credit the DentistGuideTurkey clinical team because that is accurate. If you want a named clinician accountable for advice about your own case, that is exactly what you should require from the clinic before treatment: a named dentist, in writing, on your plan.

What we ask you for, and what we do not

For an indicative plan we ask for photographs and relevant medical history. We do not ask you to obtain an X-ray first. A panoramic image or CT scan is part of the assessment the clinic performs when you arrive, and requiring one up front adds cost and delay for something that will usually be repeated.

Tell us about current medication, blood-thinning treatment, diabetes, bisphosphonate treatment, immune conditions, previous radiotherapy to the head or neck, and any history of gum disease or failed implants. Those change what is advisable more than anything visible in a photograph.

When you should stop reading and speak to someone

This site is written for planning, not for symptoms. Facial swelling, difficulty swallowing or breathing, a fever alongside dental pain, bleeding that will not stop, or trauma to the teeth or jaw all need to be seen in person and urgently. Contact your local emergency dental service or urgent care rather than waiting for a reply from us.

If you are already a patient and something is wrong after treatment, the complaints procedure tells you how to reach the clinic quickly and what to do in the meantime.

Keeping content current

Clinical pages carry a review date. Materials, techniques and typical protocols change, and a page written three years ago can be accurate in outline and out of date in detail. If you find a page whose review date has slipped, tell us at info@dentistguideturkey.com and we will look at it.
