Dental Treatment in Turkey for Romanian Patients

What this page is, and what it is not

This is a planning page, not a price comparison. We have not measured local dental prices in Romania, and we are not going to publish an estimate of them dressed up as a finding. Elsewhere on this site, where a market has been measured, you will find a local-versus-Turkey table with the working shown. Here you will not, because the working does not exist yet.

What we can tell you honestly is the other half: what we charge, how the trip runs from Romania, and what your own health system will do about it. That is the half that decides most enquiries anyway.

Getting there

Bucharest to Istanbul is a short flight, well under two hours, and it is one of the busier routes in the region, served daily and year round rather than seasonally. From the rest of the country you are usually connecting through Bucharest, which adds a leg rather than a day.

Antalya has its own airport and its own season. Direct services from this part of Europe are concentrated in the summer months; outside them, a connection through Istanbul is the usual route. We do not publish schedules or fares here because seasonal routes change too often for a printed timetable to stay honest, check current routes with the airline when you fix your dates.

The two-trip question

Short-haul is the whole argument for treating a two-trip plan calmly. An implant case needs a second visit three to six months after the first, and from Romania that second visit is a long weekend rather than an expedition. Patients flying from further away often try to compress implant treatment into one trip for exactly this reason, and compressing it is the wrong answer to a real problem you do not have.

Which treatments need two trips is not a matter of opinion. Implants and All-on-4 do, because an implant has to fuse with bone before anything final goes on top of it. Crowns, veneers and smile design cases do not. They are one trip of five to eight days. The destination comparison sets the visit patterns out in a table.

Istanbul or Antalya

Istanbul is the obvious fit: the flight is short, the schedule is dense, and a three or four day trip is genuinely practical. Antalya makes sense if you want the stay itself to be part of the point, and it usually means connecting through Istanbul outside the summer season.

The prices are the same in both, so nobody here has a commercial reason to push you towards one. Full-arch and multidisciplinary cases are planned through Istanbul regardless of preference, because that is where a case can be reviewed across more than one discipline. Treatment in Antalya is coordinated through an approved partner clinic, and the treating clinic and responsible dentist are confirmed to you in writing before you commit.

What your health system will pay

Romania is an EU member state, and that raises a question worth answering before you plan around it. The EU cross-border healthcare directive lets patients seek reimbursement for treatment in another EU or EEA country. Turkey is in neither. So the directive does not apply to treatment in Turkey, and no part of it will be reimbursed through that route. Any reimbursement you get will come from a private policy, if you hold one that covers planned dental treatment abroad, and most do not.

What we charge

Read the implant line carefully. €350 – €750 is the implant fixture. The abutment and crown that go on top are quoted separately, and the crown alone is €150 – €290. Compare a restored implant against a restored implant when you price this against a quote at home, or the comparison flatters us by a wide margin and tells you nothing.

We publish in euro. If you are paying in lei, the conversion and your card issuer's charge are yours, and they are worth checking: a poor card rate on a four-figure treatment is not a small number.

Prices are held in pounds sterling and converted for display. Istanbul figures are quoted in GBP by our partner clinics and converted at £1 = €1.17 on 2026-08-11 (ECB euro reference rate, EUR/GBP 0.8548). The rate moves. The figure you pay depends on the rate on the day. This is our published list, collected 2026-08-12; your own figure comes from a written quotation after an assessment.

Checking a dentist: here or there

The check is the same wherever the dentist is, and it is worth doing on both ends. In most of this region, practising dentistry requires membership of a professional chamber rather than a voluntary association, which means a register exists and a dentist who is not on it is not licensed. Ask for the registration number, then check it against the chamber's own register rather than against the clinic's website. A clinic that hesitates at that question has answered it.

For treatment in Turkey, the equivalent is the paperwork you leave with: the treating clinic named, the responsible dentist named, the materials and implant systems actually used, and the guarantee terms in writing. Ask for those before you commit rather than after, because before you have paid is when asking works.

We do not publish patient ratings or review scores for any clinic, here or anywhere else on this site. We have no way to verify them, and an unverifiable rating is worse than none.

Coming home

Register with, or stay registered with, a dentist where you live: as part of the plan, not as a fallback. They handle anything urgent and they see the work at intervals. What they need from you is the paperwork, which is exactly why it matters that you left with it.

Ask, before you commit, what the guarantee terms cover, who pays for a return trip if an adjustment is needed, and what a dentist at home can do in the meantime. From Romania the flight back is well under two hours, which makes that a manageable question rather than an alarming one, but it is still a question to have answered in writing.
